John Southwick

Chief of Sales

John Southwick grew up in Fairbury, Nebraska, where helping out on the family farm was part of everyday life. With one parent from the city and the other raised on a farm, John developed a balanced perspective and a deep appreciation for agriculture and small-town values. That early experience taught him the importance of work ethic and a deep appreciation for the ag community.

John holds a business degree from the University of Sioux Falls. Before joining Summit Contracting, he worked in banking, owned and operated a contracting business, and later transitioned into sales. He came to Summit Contracting in 2019 as Market President in Seward, Nebraska, where he wore every hat from sales to unloading trucks. Today, he serves as Chief of Sales and sits on the Board of Directors.

In his current role, John leads Summit’s sales strategy and works closely with teams across departments to align goals, coach teammates, and strengthen the customer experience. He is focused on building a sales structure that drives long-term revenue growth while maintaining Summit’s values and high standards.

What John enjoys most about working at Summit Contracting is the people. He finds great satisfaction in leading a team that is passionate about delivering quality and supporting one another along the way.

Outside of work, you’ll find John golfing, snowboarding, traveling, or cheering on Husker athletics. He and his wife Jessica live in Roca, NE and have a blended family of six children and two grandchildren. For John, family time and building a strong team culture go hand in hand.
