Abby Storm
Abby Storm grew up on a farm near Ethan, South Dakota, where she learned early that hard work wasn’t optional. That foundation stuck with her and continues to shape how she leads today. She began college at South Dakota State University before finishing her accounting degree at Dakota Wesleyan University, with a minor in Forensic Accounting. Her formal education laid the foundation, but much of her growth has come from on-the-job experience and continuous learning through peer groups like the COO Alliance.
Abby joined Summit Contracting in 2015 as the bookkeeper, at the time she was the entire finance department. As Summit grew, Abby’s role evolved to include financial planning, risk management, job costing, and helping build the systems and processes that enabled the company to scale.
Today, Abby serves as President of Bouwen, Summit Contracting’s holding company. She leads strategic planning, finance, HR, and operations across all affiliated companies. She works closely with leadership teams to ensure the right people are in the right seats and that every decision supports sustainable growth.
What Abby enjoys most about Summit Contracting is the people who share Summit’s culture of trust, shared purpose, and relentless improvement. She appreciates how everyone challenges each other and pursues excellence. She is especially proud that Summit’s work supports rural communities and helps families build legacies.
Outside of work, Abby is often on the move with her three daughters at sports events or family camping trips. She enjoys working out, cooking, and finding time to unwind and reset. Abby and her husband Matt and their daughters live on a farm near Mount Vernon, S.D., where life is full of activity and meaningful connection.
